We are living in unprecedented times. It's hard not to feel anxious about the people and structures in power. 'Surge' is an empowering alt-rock anthem, urging listeners to fight against injustice.

PHWOAR - BIO
Hi! We're PHWOAR (pronounced 'F-war'), a fizzy alternative indie rock two-piece from Birmingham, with DIY sensibilities and catchy tunes.
Extra information: PHWOAR are Helena pounding drums and Paul thrashing guitar, with both sharing the vocal duties. We are Brummie banter and Northern grit forged anew in the cauldron of life.
Exciting things are happening in 2025 as we gear up to release our EP 'Flowers Through the Concrete' in April. Our first single 'Waiting for the Sun' came out to great reviews on Jan 20 followed by Reckless on Feb 28. Still to come is 'Tryhard' on April 4 ahead of our EP launch on 11 April.
The record was written and produced by ourselves, with Adrian Hall (Tori Amos, Nova Twins, Depeche Mode) also producing, as well as mixing and mastering.

Surge - lyrics
Organs, blood and bone
Things they would love to control
Lied to, sick mirage
Worked long hours, overcharged
Things they would love to control
Lied to, sick mirage
Worked long hours, overcharged
Surge, Surge, Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
Keep calm, carry on
That’s the message from the crown
Violence in the streets
Bile is boiling up beneath
This pie is getting sliced ever thinner
How’d the biggest bits wind up with the sinners?
Power worries that we’ll try to deprive it
But power’s the one that does all the depriving
That’s the message from the crown
Violence in the streets
Bile is boiling up beneath
This pie is getting sliced ever thinner
How’d the biggest bits wind up with the sinners?
Power worries that we’ll try to deprive it
But power’s the one that does all the depriving
Watching the well run dry
Knowing the flowers will die
Watching the well run dry
Until the storm
Knowing the flowers will die
Watching the well run dry
Until the storm
Surge, Surge, Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
One plus one is three
Drifting to insanity
Three times ten is one
Grifted to oblivion
Drifting to insanity
Three times ten is one
Grifted to oblivion
This puppet’s got strings
They love to play with those things
But my scissors cut strings
Cut strings
They love to play with those things
But my scissors cut strings
Cut strings
Surge
Surge, Surge, Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
Surge, Surge, Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
Surge, Surge, Surge
Surge, Surge, S-s-s-Surge
